Diamond Certification
A Nirvana Diamonds integrity is guaranteed by a complete record of it's life - The Diamond Certificate.
Whilst the acquisition of diamond engagement rings and other pieces of diamond jewellery is an important expression of love, accomplishment or commitment, it also represents a significant investment in time, energy and money. It’s important that you feel confident in the integrity of what you have purchased. After all, whilst two diamonds may look identical to the untrained eye, they may be very different in quality and worlds apart in value.
Historically, only diamond dealers used grading reports..
But with the advent of the world wide web - consumers are now more educated and savvy with regard to how and why they make purchase decisions. A consumer seeking an explanation as to why two diamonds which look the same is not satisfied with being told that one is a "better quality" diamond than the other - they will quite rightly want to know WHY it is better and what characteristics differentiate the two stones.
The best way - and in our opinion, the only way to ensure that you receive what you are paying for is to purchase certified diamonds.
All diamond engagement rings from our 'create' section, plus our higher value items of diamond jewellery and diamond rings are accompanied by the diamond's original and unique grading certificate.
A diamond certificate is a detailed report created by an expert gemologist who has scrutinsed the diamond and placed it under a microscope to analyse its dimensions, clarity, cut, colour, finish, symmetry and other characteristics that add or reduce beauty and value.
There are a number of diamond laboratories around the world, some more reputable than others. Nirvana Diamonds deals only with the most respected and renowned laboratories, providing our clients with complete peace of mind that they have purchased exactly what they have ordered. These laboratories are the GIA (Gemological Institute of America), IGI (International Gemological Institute) and HRD (Hode Raad van Antwerpen).
You should note that diamond certificates should be treated with the same care and safety as insurance policies, property deeds and other important documentation.

GIA (Gemological Institute of America) - www.gia.edu
The GIA is one of the most respected and trusted diamond laboratories in the world. It is known for having the strictest, consistent and unbiased systems for grading diamonds. Diamonds that are accompanied by these grading reports are the most highly valued in the industry, as their quality is considered guaranteed. Indeed, it was the GIA who, over 70 years ago, founded the international diamond grading system which is used across the world today. The GIA provides 2 different types of diamond certificate;
GIA Diamond Dossier - This is a compact grading report issued for diamonds weighing less than 1.00ct. The most advanced technology available is used to assess the authenticity and quality of your diamond. The dossier includes the GIA's authoritative analysis of your diamond's 4Cs - Cut, Carat, Colour and Clarity. Plus, as an added security benefit, the diamond bears the microscopic laser inscription of the dossier's identification number, connecting your diamond with your report.
GIA Diamond Grading Report - This is considered by fine jewellers and international auction houses as being the world's premier gemological credential. A report is issued for diamonds of 1.00ct upwards, of all shapes, and provides the most comprehensive analysis of a diamond's quality. As well as outlining your diamonds 4Cs, it also provides a diagram of your diamonds clarity characteristics.

IGI (International Gemological Institute) - www.igi-usa.com
Founded in 1975, the IGI is another of the world's foremost diamond laboratories. Each diamond is scientifically analysed by several gemologists who, using the latest state-of-the-art grading equipment, provide an accurate description of the characteristics of the diamond and the quality of its cut. The IGI issues approximately 1 million diamond grading reports each year. The full page IGI diamond grading report is a straightforward and easy-to-comprehend document.

HRD (Hoge Raad Van Antwerpen) - www.hrd.be
The HRD is one of the most recognised diamond laboratories in Europe, since the majority of diamonds passing through Europe's diamond centre of Antwerp in Belgium are accompanied by this certification. The HRD issues grading reports for loose, polished diamonds, describing the characteristics and personality of the diamond according to the international grading system. Using ever-evolving scientific techniques and a team of highly skilled gemologists, the HRD report provides excellent supporting documentation for your diamond engagement ring.
